Restoration Matters
Ludovic Potts Restorations has been serving Eastern England and the Home Counties from their Cambridge workshop for three decades. As a company they pride themselves on their ability to really fulfil the definition of the word restore and return all their pieces to their former glory. The workshop provides services that range from the delicate restoration of antique furniture to helping to assess and restore items damaged by smoke or by flood. As an ever expanding company the restoration team still pride themselves on their passion for woodwork and describe their restorations as a "labour of love".
Ludovic started out his career as an apprentice working with wood and furniture restorations. It was on his 19th birthday that he decided to make a go of it on his own and started Ludovic Potts Restorations. Since then the company has thrived and twenty six long years later they are well renowned for their specialist knowledge and skill. The company provides a conclusive antiques restoration service, from work such as staining, stripping, waxing and veneering wood furniture to conserving leather, reupholstering and repairing ceramics. The team's skills transcend just furniture and can repair chandeliers, clocks, the interiors of vintage cars and even your Teddy bear. But which of these is Ludovic's favourite type of job? He claims they are all so different he couldn't possibly choose.
With this expansion in the range of restorations Ludovic Potts provides, comes the inevitable need for physical expansion.
His 26th year in the business sees the opening of a larger set of workshops in Guyhirn Cambridge to house the growing demands on his business. Potts will open these workshops with the help of Mary Beard, who earned her own critical acclaim hosting the BBC's enlightening TV series 'Meet the Romans', to celebrate this next great achievement. The official opening will be followed by a series of demonstrations of Potts' trade. These will include traditional upholstering, wood work repairs, clock and barometer repairs and rug and carpet repairs and maintenance. There will also be fabric and textile demonstrations that are kindly supported by John Boyd Textiles and Northcroft and Marvic.
If you are interested in helping Potts celebrate his 26 years of success or learning more about the skill and techniques required for restoration, the official opening of the new workshop will take place during the evening of 28th of September. Workshops will continue to run from 10am-5pm on the 29th so if you cannot make the official evening you need not miss out.
