A future king, captured on film...and not a tear or tantrum in sight
Little Prince George’s christening may have been a week ago, but these images will last for generations, an historic moment captured for posterity. The official photographs, taken by Jason Bell in the Morning Room of Clarence House, include the large portrait of both the Middleton and Windsor families, and the touching, more intimate image of the happy duke and duchess with their (very well-behaved) young son.
You can also see the historic official portrait of the Queen and three kings in waiting. Four generations of British monarchs. But the less formal pictures, especially those of the colourfully patriotic members of the public and a grinning Archbishop of Canterbury, remind us that this was a national celebration as well as a deeply personal one; a day we will all remember.
