Gourmet Girls: Soul Sunday brunch at Madison London

Madison’s, sitting atop at One New Change, is famous for its breath taking views over London. A great place for after work drinks and evening dinners, Madison’s is opting to introduce a more relaxed vibe to their menu offerings.

Soul Sunday Brunch at Madison’s offers a three course menu and half a bottle of wine for £38. Not only can you enjoy a hearty lunch, but you can dine to the sweet sounds of a soulful live band, with the likes of Kate Duo, Kate Trio and Kristin Duo having performed at the venue previously.

With the live sounds of a ‘Halo’ rendition by Beyonce resonating in the restaurant, I opted to start the meal with rabbit and duck liver terrine wrapped in parma ham, served with wilted chicory, fig and mustard seed jam. The sweet and salty contrast was an interesting one, the fig complimenting the smooth terrine in a fabulous abundance of flavours all brought together with a crunch of toasted sourdough.  

And what is Sunday in Britain without a roast? Madison’s offers a hearty selection of sirloin, corn-fed chicken, pork belly, all accompanied by roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, and a sauce most appropriate for the meat. A stone bass option is also available with squid and aubergine ragout, green olive tapenade and basil.

Although my guests and I came as a group of three meaning we could’ve shared the roast sharing board option, dietary requirements meant we ordered separately. I opted for chicken, which came with all the trimmings and a side of shallot gravy. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the Yorkshire puddings soaked up the gravy through and through. The cauliflower cheese was rich with cream, I tried to have small bites so I could use the extra room for the crunchy potatoes.

My guests and I finished the meal with vanilla cheesecake and a baked Normany camembert. The cheesecake came accompanied with cherry puree and almond biscuit, presented beautifully. It was surprisingly less sweet than I had anticipated, but nevertheless, a few bites left me bursting at the seams. The camembert came with quince jelly which matched nicely with the oozing hot cheese and croutons.

We finished our bottle of Ca' di Ponti Catarratto white wine and enjoyed the ambiance while watching the sun go down. Easily one of the best places in London to enjoy a roast dinner.
