Making us smile today...

First ever 'Chick lit' novel for HENS is launched!
The first ever chick lit novel written and recorded just for hens has been released. Yes really.

The audio book for broody females was commissioned by the happy egg co. (www.thehappyegg.co.uk) to help its flocks settle at night after research found that the human voice has a calming effect on laying birds.

Falling For Clooney was written by renowned British author and hen-keeper Catherine Alliott, who has penned more than twelve tales of rural romance and sold over two million books nationwide.

Falling for Clooney will be given to all happy egg co. producers, to play to their girls in their hen houses. The story will also be available to download or stream for free on the happy egg co. website and Facebook for broods up and down the country to enjoy.

Catherine said: "I've been writing tales of romance for more than 20 years but penning chick lit for actual chicks is definitely a first. I've grown up with animals, and now have over 80 of my own - including a flock of bantams - so combining my love of animals and writing was an opportunity too good to miss. It's been a real experience - and I've thoroughly enjoyed sharing Falling for Clooney with the hens at happy egg. They've been good listeners - and my first ever feathered critics!"
