He’s the happy-go-lucky prince who’s at last found love to put his hard-partying days behind him. she’s the Hollywood star whose beguiling presence and captivating personality have already won her a place in the hearts of the British people as she prepares to take centre stage for the role of a lifetime. The wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is more wonderful than fiction and outdoes movieland for brilliant spectacle and ceremony, and you can take your pick from the two big channels for broadcasts from the historic day in Windsor.
The Royal Wedding: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (Saturday, BBc1, 9am) is fronted by the redoubtable Kirsty young and Huw Edwards. Harry and Meghan – The Royal Wedding (ITV, 9.25am) is presented by Julie Etchingham and Phillip Schofield, and features Rageh Omaar reporting from the African Kingdom of Lesotho, where he will be joining the celebrations at Sentebale, the charity which cares for vulnerable children and was co-founded by the Prince. Whichever side you watch, it’s going to be a day to remember – most of all the magical moment when we see the happy couple emerge from St George’s Chapel as husband and wife. and if you are out all afternoon celebrating at a street party, don’t worry – you have another chance to see everything that counts later on in The Royal Wedding: Highlights of the Day(BBC2, 7pm).
