COUNTRY CLASSICS

Practical rustic wear, once reserved for fishermen and farmers, has never been so stylish, says Katy Pearson
Where the Duchess of Cambridge goes, the high street follows – so it’s no surprise that equestrian-style staples are the driving force.

Plaid shirts, tweed skirts, wax jackets – and even elbow patches – are now as at home in town as they are in the countryside. Even wearing wellies to work is no longer the fashion faux pas it once was – especially with wedge heels, buckles and studs, in every colour.

So experiment with tradition and mix pretty with practical for a look that is timelessly elegant – whatever the weather.
